This August, we're focusing on the enduring power of solar energy and its continued expansion across the nation. From ensuring the long-term profitability of solar assets to highlighting the steady growth of community solar in Virginia, our work demonstrates how strategic foresight and consistent development are key to building a sustainable energy future.

LET’S EXPLORE SOLAR'S PROGRESS AND LOOK AT WHAT'S AHEAD!

When Solar Assets Age, Predictive O&M Keeps Them Profitable

As solar assets mature, profitability is maintained through predictive operations and maintenance (O&M). With nearly 23 GW of U.S. solar capacity reaching the 15-year mark in the next five years, owners face increasing financial risk. Standard Solar is continually adopting smarter, data-driven strategies to evolve beyond traditional maintenance. Predictive O&M uses real-time data from drones, sensors and AI to anticipate issues, transforming O&M from a cost center into a strategic planning team.

Deploying Solar on Brownfields and Landfills Nationwide

With over 20 years of experience, Standard Solar focuses on developing commercial and community solar with an eye on economic and environmental sustainability. Our team specializes in converting underutilized land like brownfields and landfills into productive clean energy assets. We have committed $1.6 billion to annual solar deployment and have over 680 MW of owned, operating, and under-construction solar capacity.

Virginia's Sure and Steady Growth in the Community Solar Market

Virginia is experiencing steady growth in community solar. The state's 2020 Clean Economy Act mandates 100% carbon-free electricity by 2045 and created a Shared Solar Program for Dominion Energy Virginia customers. The program's capacity has expanded from 150 MW to 350 MW. Standard Solar is a leader in advancing community solar in Virginia, supporting a dozen projects. We acquired a 12 MW portfolio in 2023, including two projects in Kilmarnock totaling 7 MW that serve low- and moderate-income customers.
